Prof. Christos Xenakis from UPRC participated in the panel of the National Public Health Organization during the 3rd multidisciplinary event “Current Public Health Topics”, held on 17 December 2025 at the Agricultural University of Athens. He joined the session focusing on the security challenges emerging from the digitization of health services—from electronic health records and telemedicine to connected medical devices and cloud-enabled infrastructures.
A key point of discussion was the rapidly evolving threat landscape, including AI-assisted cyberattacks (e.g., automated phishing and social engineering, deepfake-enabled fraud, and AI-driven vulnerability discovery), which raise the bar for preparedness and response in healthcare. As one of the last events of 2025, this dialogue felt especially timely: strengthening trust, resilience, and privacy-by-design is essential to protect patients, ensure continuity of care, and support innovation responsibly.
